A Teaching Crosswalk ยท Healing Relationships & Building Trust
Trauma-Informed Care ร The Five Keys of Erotic Intelligence
The six principles describe the conditions for erotic trust. The five Keys describe the capacities that meet those conditions from the inside. This sheet maps one onto the other โ and names which lane each row is teaching from.
Safety before trust. Trust before mutuality. Mutuality before someone can fully reclaim their voice โ with the cultural and historical layer running underneath the whole time.
The three lanes
Trauma-Informed Principle
Safety
Felt safety is the precondition for eros. Erotic intelligence shows up as the capacity to read the body's pre-verbal signals โ the brace, the held breath, the flinch that means not yet โ and to stay in the body to honor them. Eros only flows where it trusts it won't be overridden.
Trauma-Informed Principle
Trustworthiness & Transparency
Naming your true state โ this desire, this fear, this limit โ without managing the other's reaction, while staying in relationship as you do it. Letting your yes and no be legible is what makes the container predictable enough for the nervous system to finally rest.
Trauma-Informed Principle
Peer Support
Erotic intelligence is co-regulated and mirrored in witnessed community, not built alone. The capacity to receive another's testimony as permission โ if her desire isn't broken, maybe mine isn't โ rather than as comparison is what turns shared story into repair.
Trauma-Informed Principle
Collaboration & Mutuality
Attuned power-sharing โ the felt sense of when to offer and when to receive โ so mutuality isn't a rule you enforce but a rhythm you can feel. Co-authoring the erotic container is the undoing of a power-over pattern the body usually learned somewhere else.
Trauma-Informed Principle
Empowerment, Voice & Choice
Reclaiming the erotic compass โ the internal GPS of your own direction โ rather than outsourcing it to a partner, a script, or an old survival strategy. Authentic consent lives here: the difference between a real yes and a performed one is almost always a body signal, and attunement is what reads it.
Trauma-Informed Principle
Cultural, Historical & Gender Issues
The imaginative, decolonial reach toward an erotic self the culture never gave you permission to become. Bodies carry colonial legacies, inherited shame, and policed gender; Creative Imagination authors desire beyond those frames, while Presence lets you stay with the historical grief that surfaces on the way.
The throughline
The six principles are the conditions for erotic trust; the five Keys are the capacities that build it. Attunement and presence create safety, emotional and social intelligence create transparency and mutuality โ and imagination is what carries all of it past inherited harm.
