has been missing.
Now it has a name.

Sex therapy was not built for all of us.
The dominant models in our field โ PLISSIT, Ex-PLISSIT, and their derivatives โ were built from the center of dominant culture outward. They assume Euro-centric, pathology-focused, white, heteronormative bodies as the default. They treat the erotic as a symptom to be managed rather than a source of wisdom, power, and liberation.
The result is a field that has systematically underserved โ and too often harmed โ the very people who most need erotic healing: Black, Indigenous, and people of the Global Majority; queer and trans clients; fat, disabled, and neurodiverse bodies; people navigating the simultaneous weight of racial trauma and sexual wounding.
I-SST was developed to change that.
"The erotic self is the WHOLE self. Healing the erotic self is healing the whole self. That is not a metaphor."
A 4-module sexological practice built on different roots.
I-SST is a contemporary sexological practice that combines healing justice, Black feminist epistemology, somatic psychology, neuroplasticity, Polyvagal Theory, Erospirituality, and the decolonial sexological research of Audre Lorde, Dr. Tracie Gilbert, Amina Peterson, and others who refused to let the erotic be pathologized.
It is not a modification of existing sex therapy. It is built from the ground up โ with the erotic lived experience of marginalized bodies as its center of gravity.
Exploring the erotic lived experience and erotic embodiment through The Erotic Self โ core wounds, core needs, core desires, and the Defaults of sexual socialization.
Somatic awareness, neuroplasticity, Polyvagal Theory, and the SHIFT somatic self-regulation framework for embodied safety and erotic healing narratives.
The Other EQ in full clinical application โ erotic self-awareness, sacred sexuality, Erospirituality, queer and trans-inclusive pleasure models, and ancestral healing arts.
Non-touch somatic sexological bodywork, erotic presence (Lovership), and the ethical practice of referral to Certified Sexological Bodyworkers, Intimacy Educators, and Sex Doulas.
This is not a summary. It is the full framework.
The I-SST White Paper introduces the theoretical foundations, four clinical modules, and key constructs of Integrative Somatic Sex Therapy โ written for practitioners who are ready to move beyond pathology-centered models.

This white paper was written for practitioners who know their current tools are failing some of their clients โ and who are ready for something with both rigor and rootedness.

- Certified sexologists and somatic sex educators looking to deepen their decolonial practice
- Sexuality educators delivering comprehensive sex education in community and clinical settings

The work comes from the work.
I-SST was not developed in a vacuum. It was built from over 23 years of liberation-centered clinical and community healing practice โ from the real erotic lives of real people whose stories the dominant field was not equipped to hold.
